The curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime

by Mark Haddon is an excellent read, I’d also reccomend you check out the Time Travellers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger if you are doing any travelling or need a book that will suck you right in fast and hard and not let go till you have read it the buggery out of it.

I’m currently reading Phillip K Dick’s collection of short stories including Minority Report - I think that one was made into a film by some hotshot hollywood upstart. They are pretty neat but nowhere near as awe inspiring as Valis or some of his other works.

What else is new? Well I’ve been working on the website for 3angle films the company I recently started with a couple of my more talented comrades. Keep your eyes here for the release of said website later this week!

Also of late I started messing around with internet dating / friend finding websites. It’s the latest craze for me since playing poker online and I wanted to know which ones were worth fiddling with and which ones were absolute pony. You can currently find yours truly’s hopeless profiles on Faceparty.com and also meetic but you can find my profile on there for yourself… If you know any other good ones I’m up for it in the name of uh, research. Yes academic pursuits - thats my watchword.

Keep it together, I guess it wasn’t meant to be forever.

Another restless night,
waking up in haze,
Two months now,
since we went our own ways,
maybe more for her…

I can’t go another hour,
with her in my head,
twisting up my days.
I wish I were dead.
No, not really.

I can’t make it happen.
This thing I desire,
All I ever wanted,
turns to ash in the fire,
burns me too.

So what now?
Move on, forget her.
Easier said than done.
Chin up, bite down,
Keep it together,
I guess it wasn’t meant to be forever.

You know its bad when you start making up songs about it, still I kinda like that one - I think the next set of verses should be more positive. Maybe I can add to it later when I can actually relate to that.

In other news the new Belle and Sebastian album sounds great. The Life Pursuit is out February 6th 2006 on Rough Trade Records.

Everyday I love you less and less, you’re turning into something I detest…

I got the Kaiser Chief’s new album “Employment” and Maximo Park’s “A Certain Trigger” - mainly as listening to them in HMV had the effect of making me want to listen to them at home - it probably wont last.

In other news I also decided to have a clear out of all my ex’s stuff. I deleted her number from my mobile phone, her emails fromOutlook and blocked and removed her from my MSN buddy list. I’m going to systematically go through all my stuff and anything that reminds me of her is getting chucked out. The difficult part is that after spending the last 3 years living together nearly everything reminds me of her and I can’t afford to ditch everything - but hopefully if I can get rid of enough of it I will stop thinking about her so much.

I also decided to write a list of things I didn’t like about her - I’m already at number 41. Admittedly a lot of them are pretty much the same things written down differently, but its reputedly theraputic to go through this sort of routine. The sleepless nights have got to end regardless, as it just makes me tired at work. So if writing and talking about breaking up makes it easier I might as well do it here. I’m down to pretty much only thinking about her when I get home at night and I never really thought about it but I can see why so many cliched songs get written about the subject. It’s definately good fuel for writing - who knows maybe I will pick up a pen and start writing another script. Or add to my old ones, might as well make something positive out of it.

The other thought that is slowly emerging is emigration - I heard a lot about how great a place to live Canada is, and since I’m beginning to associate this little island with everything that is wrong with my life I might even look into it a little more seriously. I could save up some money and start a new life over there, maybe do a masters in filmmaking and try and get a production company up and running while I’m over there.

Its a thought anyway.

At the final moment, I cried, I always cry at endings.

Made some more wallpaper to reflect what is going through my ears at the moment: Belle and Sebsatian “If you’re Feeling Sinister”

Was bored this morning and looking for something to do so I knocked together these two Flaming Lips Wallpapers. Constructed earlier today from scans of the cover from Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.

Flaming Lips Wallpaper - Light

Flaming Lips Wallpaper - Dark

Figured I needed some new desktop decor and since I’ve been listening to that album all week it might as well be Lips themed.
Anyway, Enjoy.

Stay here with me. We’ll start a jazz band.

Eventually watched LIT again after going on about it last week, it’s good but I think that it is relegated to the ‘only watch with someone who hasn’t seen it before’ shelf. In other news I updated the website again - Surprise… I got a new webcam so I added the webcam code back up which had been down for 2 years. Stay tuned for fascinating low-res, high-noise pictures of Y.T.

Now I go back to watching ST Voyager. Tuvok owns you.

Musical Breakdown Vol. 1

Thought I would upload a couple of the tracks I made earlier this summer. Just a few loops over my own drum patterns but they work pretty darn good if still somewhat unfinished. On hearing them with my ears again tonight I found them to be of reasonable quality so I thought I would make them available here for download.

One’s a laid back, hip-hop style-o-number [3.76 MB] and the other is a drum and bass joint with a nice latin riff [2.53 MB].

Let me know what you think, who knows if I get enough comments I might just make some more.
