The curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime

Saturday, January 28th, 2006

by Mark Haddon is an excellent read, I’d also reccomend you check out the Time Travellers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger if you are doing any travelling or need a book that will suck you right in fast and hard and not let go till you have read it the buggery out of it.

I’m currently reading Phillip K Dick’s collection of short stories including Minority Report - I think that one was made into a film by some hotshot hollywood upstart. They are pretty neat but nowhere near as awe inspiring as Valis or some of his other works.

What else is new? Well I’ve been working on the website for 3angle films the company I recently started with a couple of my more talented comrades. Keep your eyes here for the release of said website later this week!

Also of late I started messing around with internet dating / friend finding websites. It’s the latest craze for me since playing poker online and I wanted to know which ones were worth fiddling with and which ones were absolute pony. You can currently find yours truly’s hopeless profiles on Faceparty.com and also meetic but you can find my profile on there for yourself… If you know any other good ones I’m up for it in the name of uh, research. Yes academic pursuits - thats my watchword.

So foul and fair a day I have not seen.

Mixed bag really - On the plus side I started a new job at HMV over xmas so I will get some money finally and I’ve moved into my new place, but on the down side I split up with my girlfriend of about 3 years… Ah well back onto the meat market I go. Good job I started dieting, quit smoking (again) and have been doing loads of walking since now I’m back in trim in time for the bachelor life.

Seen loads of films (including Together by lucas moodyson - excellent, and Elephant by Gus Van Sant - also a good un) and read tons of books including ‘The Time Travellers Wife’ which you should all rush out and buy if you have not read it already (it rocks). Oh I kinda like the kaiser chiefs new album although hearing it on repeat all last week at HMV means i’ll probably not buy it just yet as I’m all played out.

So if you have any unmarried daughters/sisters (Single MILF’s accepted too) you want to move out then send their details (including vital statisitics and a recent high res picture - prefer nudes) to my address.

Peace.
x

P.S. I’m too tired to link everything - learn to use google. kthxbye.

I’m Back… Soon!

Hey all, sorry it’s been so long between posts but I’ve been so busy trying to sort my life out that I’ve not had the time or inclination to write anything in here - besides I don’t really want to bum anyone out when reading through my insane witterings. Basically I was domicile-less for a while and I’ve been crashing at a mates house. Fine for me, considering I don’t have much cash atm but it must be less than fine for poor Adam who has lost his couch to me for the last few weeks. Anyway the good news is that I should be all sorted out soon.

I have a job interview in an hour, I’m going to see my girlfriend for the first time in nearly 2 months next Monday and I move in to a new place on the 14th of November. Just so you know I have not been bumming around the entire time since I moved out of my last place, I’ve shot two seperate videos (a Musical on Nelson and a talk on Mervyn Peake) and spent most of my spare time in between job-hunting and editing. I also read Catch 22 (Hilarious) and have watched a plethora of films including Velvet Goldmine, Dogville, the Silence of the Lambs(again), Team America (again)Rosemarys Baby and a host of others (many starring the lovely Patricia Arquette by some bizzare twist of fate). Also what with no pc, no internet, no guitar and none of my things, I have been watching way too much TV something I really look forward to fixing once I move into the new place.

Anyway, just so you know I should be somewhat more visible come the 14th of November!

Cyberpunk Fiction

Sunday, July 17th, 2005

Not so much a post as a reminder of certain books I need to read:

Some people would argue over whether all of these are cyberpunk (including me), but hey…

Bruce Sterling, Ed: Mirrorshades The Cyberpunk Anthology.

William Gibson: Pattern Recognition

Bruce Sterling: Islands in the Net; Crystal Express and Globalhead (shorts).

Pat Cadigan, Rudy Rucker, Lewis Shiner, John Shirley

Richard Kadrey: Metrophage (online, do a search).

Walter Jon Williams: Hardwired.

Yukito Kishiro: Battle Angel Alita (manga/comic)

I basically edited a list I found here to include only the stuff I have not read and the stuff I want to read.
